Created specifically for the Hospital of Fribourg (HFR), this exhibition explores the way perception can change depending on the perspective we adopt and the light we choose to bring to a situation.

The works appear almost invisible at first glance. Hand-engraved into plexiglass and presented within minimalist white frames, the texts blend into their surroundings, remaining silent and discreet. It is only when a direct source of light is introduced that the words emerge, projected as shadows onto the white background.

This simple interaction transforms the viewer into an active participant. What seemed absent suddenly becomes visible. What appeared empty reveals meaning.

The messages themselves are drawn from song titles and lyrics. Familiar fragments of music, capable of awakening memories, emotions and personal associations. Presented in several languages, they create subtle moments of connection that transcend age, culture and experience. Conceived for a hospital environment, the exhibition does not seek to impose a narrative or provide answers. Instead, it offers moments of pause within a place where emotions, uncertainty, hope and resilience often coexist.

Hospitals are spaces where time feels different. Patients, visitors and healthcare professionals each experience them in their own way, carrying stories that remain largely invisible to others. In this context, the artworks function as gentle reminders that our perception of a situation is never fixed. The engraved words are always present, even when they cannot be seen. They simply wait for the right light to reveal them.

Perhaps the same can be said of hope.
